Sheriff PE North

About Us

More About Us

As an impartial officer of the courts charged with the task of realizing the fruits of judgment, the role of the sheriff, deputy sheriffs and office staff are often underestimated and misunderstood.

Sheriffs and their staff play a very important role as a vital interface between the Justice system and the public. Sheriffs, deputy sheriffs and office staff members are the face of the Civil Justice system. It would be impossible to secure the attendance of defendants in court or have the decisions and orders enforced, and without sheriffs the adjudication process would be incomplete and the rule of law unimaginable.

Service Charter

All staff members and deputy sheriffs pledge at all times to:

  • Maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity
  • Provide the public with correct information about the services they have the right to receive
  • Treat the public with fairness and courtesy
  • Give the public the best possible value for their money by providing efficient and effective service at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality and independence
  • Honour any undertaking we make as part of our business or practice
  • Carry out our work, service and execution of our duties competently and punctually
  • Take pride in ourselves, the Sheriffs’ profession and the people we serve
  • Never bring the Sheriffs’ profession into disrepute
  • Account for trust monies honestly, accurately and punctually
  • Charge reasonable fees according to the rules
